Miscellaneous Other Band Gigs

This is a link to a bunch of pictures.

More photographs.

 . . . and still MORE pictures.

The New City Library
asked me if I would do a concert there. They had recently remodeled and built an entire cultural arts room, complete with stage, sound and lights, etc. They wanted events to draw people in to see it. I loved playing there.

New City Story

In 1986, I got the opportunity to be the entertainment coordinator for the Rockland County Fair.
I met The Monkees, Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson, Air Supply, Tom Jones, and David Copperfield.

That gig didn’t quite turn out as I has been led to believe, but it was still fun.

It was at that gig that I met some young musicians just out of high school. They had a fresh upbeat sound and I liked them instantly. Great original songs, musicianship, and stage presence . . . real charisma. They were called “Still Trust”.

I got to open for them at a concert they did at the NYU Medical Center in Manhattan. Scott Staton appeared with me. I was so excited to be performing in such a nice venue in Manhattan. The concert hall before the show.

This gig was at “Terrace on the Hudson” . . . it was the annual American Heart Association Heart Ball. I had a great band for that one, including Pete Byrnes of “Pete and the Burners” and Bassist Bill Langan.

Here is the whole band at that gig.

One of the most fun musicians I have ever been onstage with is percussionist Lou Conway.

Here is another picture of him at one of the many Rocklandfest gigs we did.

Here is the whole band at Rocklandfest sometime in the late 90s–we did it every year for about 10 years so I am not sure of the date of this one.

This is another Rocklandfest gig . . . the bass player was new and he was with us for such a short time that I can’t even remember his name. I THINK it was Ron.

This one is at Wesley Hills Day with John Zagar and me . . . this was a fun outdoor gig we did every year for about 6 years.

WESLEY HILLS DAY was another gig that we did every year in September, but I can’t recall the exact year that this one was taken–with Don Pillar on base. But it was after they built the new gazebo.

This is the whole band at that gig, sometime around 1996 (I think).

We played many gigs at Bullwinkles in Valley Cottage, NY. This was a typical dive-bar . . . for locals only. We had some fun, some late nights, some drunks . . . the usual stuff for that kind of gig.

Journal News listing from Aug 1997

In this picture, from Feb 1997, Donnie Pillar is on bass, with John Zagar on drums.

Here is a clip from March 1998.

My hometown of Suffern, NY has a park in the Village called “Avon Park” (named after the largest employer in the Village). At the center is a gazebo, and each summer the Village sponsors a series of concerts there.

Local News Covered it.
We played every July for about 12 years in the 80s and 90s. This is how it looked.

This is a newsclip from Sept 1999.

This clip is from Aug 1995.

I don’t know the date of this one.

I don’t know where this is but it looks like an outdoor gig and it was probably a hot summer night. I think it was this one.

We held down a Saturday night spot at Slattery’s in Nyack, NY for several months, then we got too successful there and people started congregating outside the window to listen.

This clip came out when we were at Slattery’s Sat night and Wesley Hills Day on Sunday.

Here’s the rest of it.

February of 2005 on West Broadway with Charlie Guitar.

Performing in Boom on Spring Street in Soho with Charlie Guitar.
