Glenn

-Glenn Suyker was the first musician I ever appeared publicly onstage with.  I answered a call from a band that was looking for a singer, and I got an audition.  I didn’t get the job, but the manager of that band liked me and suggested I get in touch with Glenn.  So I called him and invited him to my place to see if we’d get along ok and see how we’d sound together.

I remember the first time he came to my condo in Clearwater . . . I immediately offered him a line of coke (hey, it was 1981).

We went to Bennigans for some dinner after our first session playing together.  He ordered quiche and I looked at him a little funny across the table.  He looked up and said, “no, I am NOT gay”.

The first song we ever played together was “Teach Your Children”.  It sounded pretty good so we decided to keep playing together and see what happens.

“Jeffrey’s” in Clearwater was the very first gig Glenn and I ever did in the Fall of 1982.

We called ourselves “Exit” because we wanted to see our name in lights wherever we played.

We rehearsed in my condo for about 6 weeks before we had enough material to be able to do 2 40 minute sets . . . so we did happy hour there.  We had a great time, and got fed dinner as payment.

Then we played at a place called “The Roman Gardens”.
