The Coven with Susie and Annie

“The Coven” on Main Street in Nyack, NY.  It isn’t there anymore, but it’s the first place “Formation” played when our bus rolled down the hill and ran out of gas across the street.  Suzie and Annie were regulars there, and I often would go up and play with them . . . they blended beautiful harmonies to the songs I would play–they liked my choices of songs and knew the words.  Suzie and I played often together . . . if it was my gig, she always came up–and if it was hers, she’d call me up for a set.  That lady could wail–and also could harmonize with just about anybody.  She always made me sound better.

The Coven with Steven Lee

Scott Staton was one of the first people we met when Formation rolled into Nyack.  He was a local well-known musician who played blues and rock piano in a place called “Eastwicks”.

This photograph was taken by Diane Stevenson while I was performing at the Coven in October of 1989.
